Zoe the Zebra teaches children about bullying. A young zebra named Zoe who lives in the African bush joins forces with her friends Emma the Impala, Barry the Baboon, and other animals to protect their friend Wally the Warthog from a pack of bullying hyenas. I enjoyed the book and it's quirky characters. I didn't feel any of the depth that other readers felt, maybe I was caught up in the adventuring. Remy is an easy character to like and root for, everyone likes an underdog. You sure can't top those flying shoes either! This was a goodreads giveaway signed by the author.

I am grateful and appreciate the opportunity to read it. May 30, D.

Morrese rated it really liked it. This is a Dungeons and Dragons type fantasy with a team of adventurers competing with others to overcome monsters in a series of contest events. A unifying thread of political intrigue and even a touch of romance provide the plot. The heroes are likeable and the bad guys have motives beyond just wanting to take over the world Mwa-ha-ha.

The name of place where the story begins, Foeny Balognia, adds to the sense of comic adventure, letting the reader know this is not to be taken too seriously. T This is a Dungeons and Dragons type fantasy with a team of adventurers competing with others to overcome monsters in a series of contest events. There is nothing deep about this— no cultural satire or philosophical insights, but the prose, editing, pacing, and other technical details are done well, making for an enjoyable, light read.

My only issue is that serendipitous events, such as finding a ladder or a jar laying around just when such things would come in handy, or happening to be on the right rooftop that just happens to collapse at the right time, strained my ability to suspend disbelief. Other than that, this is a fine story.

I can recommend it. This is a light-hearted, and occasionally humorous, story about Remy, a mediocre student with dreams of becoming an Adventurer. The story takes place in Feony, which is in the Kingdom of Bolognia, with a King who has come up with the perfect plan to rise above his own mediocrity.

Through a series of mishaps and good luck Remy, along with this team, are doing better than anyone would have expected of them.

Fighting monsters, saving townspeople, finding lost treasures; the standard adventurer tasks, but under a somewhat controlled setting within the tournament. The story was engaging and flowed well throughout the entire story. Remy, though kind of a moron at times, was likeable and made it easy to root for his team along the way. I was happy with how the story played out no spoilers, I promise!

Whether happy, sad, or awkward ha ha , it progressed pretty naturally.
